🐝 Do you have old or unused hiveware sitting around? Now’s the time to safely dispose of it!

Join us on Saturday, 31 August, from 9am to 11am, at various hubs across Auckland. We’ll be collecting old hiveware for safe destruction, helping to reduce the risk of American Foulbrood (AFB) in our community.

🛑 Important Conditions:

  • No Dumping: Please do not leave anything unattended. Only offload equipment directly to a volunteer.
  • Timing: Bring your equipment between 9am and 11am on Saturday, 31 August.
  • Fee: $5 per box, bin bag, or equivalent. Cash only (to cover costs).
  • Packaging: All items must be securely wrapped in packing wrap or bin bags—ensuring they are beeproof and leakproof.

💼 What We Accept:

We’ll take supers, brood boxes, frames, lids, bases, wood, metal, plastic, old comb, and any hiveware potentially contaminated with AFB spores. No amount is too large—please contact us if you have a significant amount to dispose of.

🚨 AFB Spores Can Survive Over 40 Years

This is a crucial opportunity to help eliminate AFB from Auckland. If you or someone you know has old hiveware, encourage them to participate.

We will accept anything, even if AFB is suspected.

Let’s work together to protect our bees and our environment. Your participation can make a difference!
